Facial

Looking more tired than you really are?

Is your face showing signs of aging ?

Are wrinkles appearing?

Wishing to improve certain features or give your face a youthful appearance ? Facial sculpting may be the answer.

Many facial-sculpting procedures are offered at the Outaouais Centre for Cosmetic Surgery. This section contains a brief overview of some of them.

Eyelids

Although eyelid enhancement surgery necessitates only a short convalescence, the surgery on the upper lids consists of removing excess tissue and lifting the lid’s muscle to create the same desired effect as in the case of facelifts; in other words, a firmer appearance with less droopiness.

The surgery on the lower lids, however, is a more delicate procedure. The surgery on the lower lids usually consists of two (2) steps:

  1. The removal of excess tissue,
  2. The removal and repositioning of excess fat tissue through the area below the eye.

The goal of the latter is to eliminate the appearance of "bags" under the eyes which are often associated with fatigue. The tightening of the lower eyelid’s muscle helps to remove these bags that are present in both young and old.

Facelifts

A facelift is typically the lifting of skin and muscles by removing excess tissue from the area between the chin and the ear, and the tightening of muscles and support tissues in order to reduce the skin’s sagging effect: skin that has lost its elasticity as a result of aging and the environment. The result is a firmer and more youthful-looking skin in areas such as the chin, jowls, cheeks, temples, brows and forehead. Oftentimes, hyaluronic acid injections or other skin-enhancing techniques such as skin abrasion may complement facelifts in order to optimize the results.

Performed under neuroleptic anaesthesia, facelifts are not to be interpreted as a Fountain of Youth. In other words, a facelift will not make you look 20 years younger. However, if you are looking to turn back the clock (or at least to slow it down), facelifts are an ideal solution.

Scarring is usually minimal but it may vary tremendously from one individual to another. A patient’s hairline, hair density, age, sex and goals, play a dynamic role in the resulting scarring process. Please consult Dr. Dubois for any questions or concerns in this area.
